5 Simple Ways to Give Your Home a Facelift
Written by Artisan Contracting on January 12, 2017
Your home is your space: to relax, throw parties, rest, enjoy and spend time with friends and family in. Over time you might feel as though your home needs some retouching but you aren’t quite prepared to do major renovations, or maybe you don’t want to change the structure of your home but just the cosmetic finishes. Either way, when it comes time to give your home a facelift here are some easy ways to freshen up the look of your home.
1. Paint Your Front Door
Changing the colour of your front door, or even just repainting it the same colour, gives your home an instant boost in curb appeal. A freshly painted door, even though it’s not new, it looks new and draws attention to your home. You will definitely want to research and think about the colour carefully, though, as if all the other homes in your neighbourhood have conservative paint colours on the doors, then you probably won’t want to pick something bold and bright and be the home that completely stands out. (But then again, maybe you do!)
2. Paint the High Traffic Areas of Your Home
Since you are already painting things around the house, why not freshen up the areas of your home that experience the most traffic? A fresh coat of paint can really make your house look warm and bright. A fresh coat of paint will also cover up any scuffs or marks on the walls, which also makes the room look fresh and new.
3. Get New Curtains
Curtains are accents in a room that can really bring a lot to the space you have. You don’t have to change the rod and fixtures, and you can keep what you have if you really like it. New curtains and other accents can completely transform the look of the room, and they can be easily replaced within a small budget, so it’s one of the best ways to give your home a quick facelift without completely renovating it.
4. Make Some Small Kitchen Upgrades
If your kitchen doesn’t already have a backsplash, you can easily install one, and it can be completely custom, too. You can also do small things like move your microwave and install an over-the-range version, or save to upgrade the bigger appliances. A new countertop is also a great option for a smaller kitchen project if you have the ability to install it yourself.
5. Look Outside
Sprucing up your backyard is also a great way to give your home a quick refresh. If you always wanted to have a seating area where you can entertain guests, or a covered area to BBQ in all seasons then this is a great opportunity to do one or two of those projects. You can also purchase new furniture to put outside and update the space you already have. Small changes to your outdoor space, like an indoor space, can make a huge difference and make it look like you put a lot of time and effort into the space when really it was a simple change.
By focusing on these areas of your home and making changes there, you can make a large impact on the overall look of your home. A small facelift in one or more of these areas will make you feel as though you are living in a brand-new version of the home you already loved.
