These choices are rising because homeowners are thinking longer term, whether that means aging in place, accommodating family, or simply making daily life easier. We also have an aging population, so the value in comfort and convenience makes these design choices worth it.

In 2026, remodelling is also leaning toward upgrades that make every day easier. Houzz found that 36% of renovated bathrooms now include wellness features, and wet rooms are growing because they use space efficiently and improve accessibility.  

Energy Efficiency Continues to Dominate 

With the threat of climate change looming, energy-minded upgrades continue to matter.  

NAR reports that agents see windows, doors, and siding as the most important green features for buyers, with energy savings, incentives, and resale value helping drive demand. This is where good remodelling earns its keep. These upgrades make the home quieter, more efficient, easier to maintain, and better suited to the demands of current life.
